Yttrium is a metal with a wide range of uses, the main uses are:

 (1) Master Alloy for steel and non-ferrous alloys. FeCr alloys typically contain 0.5-4% yttrium, which enhances these oxidation resistance and ductility of stainless steel; after adding an appropriate amount of yttrium-rich mixed rare earth to MB26 alloy,the comprehensive performance of the alloy has been significantly improved, and it can replace some medium-strength aluminum alloys for the stress-bearing components of aircraft.

Also adding a small amount of yttrium-rich rare earth to Al-Zr alloy can improve the conductivity of the alloy, It is used by most wire factories in China; Yttrium is added to the copper alloy to improve the electrical conductivity and mechanical strength.

 (2) Silicon nitride ceramic material containing 6% yttrium and 2% aluminum, which can be used to develop engine parts.

 (3) Drilling, cutting and welding of large components with a 400 watt NdYAG laser beam and other mechanical processing.

 (4) Electron microscope fluorescent screen composed of Y-Al garnet single crystal, with high fluorescence brightness and good resistance to scattered light, low absorption, good resistance to high temperature and mechanical wear.

 (5) High yttrium structure alloy containing up to 90% yttrium, can be used in aviation and other applications requiring low density and high melting point.

    (6) The yttrium-doped SrZrO3 high-temperature proton-conducting material, which has attracted much attention, has great potential for fuel cells, electrolysis.The production of cells and gas sensors that require high hydrogen solubility is of great significance. In addition, yttrium is also used for high resistance warm spray materials, diluent for nuclear reactor fuels, additives for permanent magnet materials, and applications in the getter of electronics industry etc.
