Now there are two things worth paying attention to:

First,although zirconium addition modification treatment is the most effective grain refining method for cast magnesium alloys, the mechanism of zirconium refining magnesium alloy grains is not very clear at present, and further in-depth research is needed;

Second, the method of adding zirconium recently is mainly to add zirconium salt and Mg-Zr master alloy. The temperature of adding zirconium salt is very high, which is inconvenient to handle the melt. The residue in the melt will reduce the corrosion resistance of magnesium alloy. So in the process of smelting and manufacturing magnesium alloys, the appropriate method of adding zirconium is by adding the magnesium zirconium master alloy, such as Mg-Zr30 master alloy.
